The recently concluded Kathmandu Art and Literature Festival, held on Magh 23, 2082 (February 5–6), was a vibrant celebration of creativity, imagination, and expression. Guided by the inspiring slogan, “Where Young Voices Find Their Words,” the two-day festival created a dynamic platform for students to explore literature and art through interaction with distinguished writers, poets, and storytellers.
Featuring a total of 19 engaging sessions, the festival brought together a diverse range of themes—from poetry and storytelling to drama, fiction, and artistic expression. Sessions such as “सन्देश बोकेको कथा” by Usha Acharya and Sabitra Pandey, “काव्य साधनाः अक्षरदेखि अनुभूतिसम्म” by Abhay Shrestha, and “The Art of Story Telling” by Zoe Robinson offered participants deep insights into the craft of writing and the power of narrative.Literary discussions continued with thought-provoking sessions like “Ideas and Expression in Literary Writing” by Mahesh Paudyal, “कथालेखन र आवाजको जादू” by Nilam Niharika Karki, and “The Impact of Fiction on Reading Culture” by Sampurna Dewapatey. The festival also embraced performance and visual storytelling through sessions such as “Drama Reading Corner” by Dr. Shiva Rijal and “The Story of Nature Through Art” by Ngipngeam Konyak.
Young learners were especially engaged in creative sessions including “कलिला हात कविताकाे साथ,” “Storyland Adventures,” “कल्पनाबाट रङ्गमञ्चसम्म,” and “कथा सिर्जनाकाे उत्सव,” which encouraged them to experiment with language and imagination. The session “There is Always Another Story” by Dr. Archana Thapa reminded participants that storytelling is an ever-evolving journey.
A highlight of the festival was the presence of special guest Poet Tulasi Diwas, whose participation added prestige and inspiration to the event. Another proud moment was the inauguration of a student-written storybook, symbolizing the festival’s commitment to nurturing emerging voices.
The Kathmandu Art and Literature Festival successfully fostered a culture of reading, writing, and artistic exploration. By connecting young minds with accomplished literary figures, it reaffirmed the transformative power of words and creativity in shaping thoughtful, expressive individuals.
